Our Climate Change section adopts a broad view of the term “climate change” as it relates to legal practice and incorporates not just the ‘environment” aspects of the area but also various operational elements relating to climate change such as the product development and trade of various carbon and emissions trading regimes as well as the compliance and structuring aspects of ensuring various property and infrastructure projects are compliant with “green” aspects.
Carbon abatement and emission reduction strategies, carbon funds, carbon derivatives
Construction contracts, consultancy agreements, development agreements, power purchasing agreements and offtake arrangements;
Emissions trading and reporting schemes;
Electronic trading platforms;
Green building development and construction projects, including ratings systems;
Advice relation to both federal and state government greenhouse and climate change legislation, policies and programmes;
Environmental impact assessment and planning approvals;
Risk assessment and risk management tools;
Sustainable development policies and strategies; and
Tax and levies.
Unfortunately the research component of this section is not yet completed. We expect the research and the resulting lists of leading firms and lawyers to be finalised in late 2010.
